This set of ceramic Shigaraki pedestal cups has been expertly restored using the traditional Japanese art of Kintsugi. Each repair, completed with meticulous care and precision, highlights the fractures in the bowls, now transformed into gleaming lines of genuine 24k gold. I use only traditional kintsugi techniques (no epoxy and mica powder); natural urushi lacquers are cured in a muro box and 24k gold for food vessels, both of which are food safe. I also use genuine silver, copper and brass (as well as gold) for repairs not being used for food or drink. All vessels in my shop (matcha bowl, tea cup/pot, Ikebana/vase, mugs, tumblers etc.) have been tested for water fastness.
